Resurfacing vs repaving an asphalt driveway
Resurfacing lays 2 in of new asphalt over the old after the cracks are filled and a tack coat goes down: about $1,775 – $2,959 for the 640 sq ft example. It only lasts if the base underneath is still sound. Repaving tears the old asphalt out and starts again at $3,572 – $5,954, which is the right call when the surface is broken into alligator cracks or the driveway has sunk.
