Tips for this kind of estimate
- Confirm the property line; a survey line is cheaper than moving a fence.
- Add a rock clause: augering through rock or roots is billed hourly beyond a stated depth.
- Quote gates separately; they carry most of the hardware and callback risk.
Questions
What changes the per-foot price most?
Height and material. Six-foot cedar privacy runs roughly double four-foot picket; vinyl and aluminum are priced per foot by the panel.
Do I need a permit for a fence?
Many cities require one above a height (often 6 ft) or for front yards. The template has a permit allowance line; set it to the local fee or zero.
