Tips for this kind of estimate
- State the number of layers being removed; a second layer changes labor and disposal.
- Name the shingle product and color so the warranty registration matches the estimate.
- Add a decking replacement rate per sheet for rot found after tear-off.
Questions
What is a roofing square?
One square is 100 square feet of roof surface. Suppliers sell shingles by the square (three bundles), so the template prices by it too.
How much waste should I include?
Ten percent for simple gable roofs, fifteen for hips and valleys. Change the quantity on the shingle line; the template shows the assumed waste in the description.
